Description
Lake Mendota is the northernmost and largest of the four lakes of Madison, Wisconsin. A great gift for anyone who lived or studied in Madison, or who lives on the shore.
Print your own Lake Mendota as a clean 3D wall piece, built from real shoreline data and kept true to scale, with north up. You can pick out Picnic Point reaching out from the south shore, with Maple Bluff to the northeast and Middleton to the west.
What you get

- 600 size: 600 x 528 x 18 mm, for large-format printers
- STL file for each size, ready to slice
- STEP file for each size, for editing in Fusion, SolidWorks, Onshape or FreeCAD
Suggested print settings
- Layer height: 0.2 mm, 3 to 4 walls, 10 to 15% infill
- Orientation: flat, with the front face on the plate
- Supports should not be needed, but check the keyhole slots in your slicer preview
Hanging
Keyhole slots are built into the back:
- 250 size: two wood screws 154 mm apart, head up to 8.5 mm, shank up to 4.5 mm
- 600 size: two wood screws 522 mm apart, head up to 8.5 mm, shank up to 4.5 mm
Leave the head standing about 3 mm off the wall, then slide the piece down onto the screw.
To keep the model printable, details thinner than about 2 mm are simplified and very small islands are left out. The images are computer renders, not photos of a print.
