Description

Lake Coeur d'Alene is the long, winding lake of North Idaho, with the city of Coeur d'Alene at its northern end. A great gift for anyone from the area, or from nearby Spokane.

Print your own Lake Coeur d'Alene as a clean 3D wall piece, built from real shoreline data and kept true to scale, with north up. You can follow the whole winding shape, from the northern end to the southern reach where the St. Joe River comes in.

What you get

  • 250 size: 176 x 250 x 10 mm, fits a 256 mm print bed
  • 600 size: 422 x 600 x 18 mm, for large-format printers
  • STL file for each size, ready to slice
  • STEP file for each size, for editing in Fusion, SolidWorks, Onshape or FreeCAD

Suggested print settings

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm, 3 to 4 walls, 10 to 15% infill
  • Orientation: flat, with the front face on the plate
  • Supports should not be needed, but check the keyhole slots in your slicer preview

Hanging

Keyhole slots are built into the back:

  • 250 size: one wood screw, head up to 6.5 mm, shank up to 3.5 mm
  • 600 size: two wood screws 23 mm apart, head up to 8.5 mm, shank up to 4.5 mm

Leave the head standing about 3 mm off the wall, then slide the piece down onto the screw.

The 250 size hangs on a single screw, so it can turn. Set it level, and add a dab of removable mounting putty at the bottom if needed.

On the 600 size the screws sit close together, so use a level when you mark the holes.

This is a slim, branching shape. The hanger area on the 250 size is its weakest point, so print it with extra walls, and treat it as a light decorative piece.

To keep the model printable, details thinner than about 2 mm are simplified and very small islands are left out. The images are computer renders, not photos of a print.
